Recommendations for a new museum experience through scenography at the National Museum of Beirut

Abstract

The museum world is evolving at a fast pace, and cultural trips became an engaging and educational experience. The National Museum of Beirut froze in time with its last renovation of the ground and first floors in 1999, and this project tackles the multiple aspects of bringing it back to life: the administration, the collection, and the public. Based on observation and research, we focused on redefining the human resource structure, uplifting the setup, and integrating digital mediation, such as augmented reality and interactive games, in order to create a new user experience. This project serves as a support document for the renovations of the National Museum of Beirut, in order to make it the central Lebanese cultural hub and a community-centered institution.
