The significance of saving peoples lives from infectious diseases has enormously advanced since hundreds of years, and will continue to be one of the major concerns of doctors, scientists, and engineers. Improvements in this field showed gradual progression, until the idea of filtering and conditioning air evolved. People, in their everyday lives, are under continuous danger from infections and diseases despite the place and time. When they are found in cleanrooms such as operating theaters of hospitals, they should be safe from air contaminants that might increase infections. This Masters Project researches types of air contaminants, the ways to filter them from air, and later discusses the preferred conditions in any operating room. Finally, Chekka Hospital Operating Room will be an application to this study. The operating section of this hospital consists of two similar operating rooms over which cooling and heating load calculations were applied. Four methods were studied, however only one final design was chosen because it satisfies temperature, humidity, airflow, pressure, ventilation, cooling, and heating loads needed in operating rooms.en_US
