The main purpose behind this project is to aid the Lebanese civil defense and fire brigade department in extinguishing fires. The birth of the Fire Hawk was announced, which is made to survey the Lebanese territories especially the green areas such as the forests. The UAV design assures more safety, since it is able to detect fire at its early stages, using an infrared thermal camera. Moreover, a certain system that consists of a global positioning system, a three axis accelerometer, a digital compass, as well as an analogue device, are used to guide the UAV throughout its mission. The implemented system sends a signal as soon as a fire is detected so that action can be taken by the responsible entities which are the civil defense and the fire brigade departments. The Fire Hawk is an electrically powered UAV that uses a DC motor for aviation purposes. Surveying a range of 155 miles (250 km), and at a maximum altitude of 10000ft (3500 meters), the UAV will be able to fly for a minimum of one and a half hours consecutively. Being committed to the specified mission, the UAV will successfully be able to perform its specified job. By completing the design, the UAV will reach a maximum empty weight of 132.9lb (61kg), as well as a total weight of about 179lb (81kg), taking into consideration all of the required equipment. The UAV will have an overall length of 12ft (3.7m) and a wing span of 13.95ft (4.25m). The total cost for the whole UAV, was estimated to be about {dollar}13500, which is considered to be a reasonable price compared to its moral value.en_US
