Title: Study of a downhill mountain bike
Authors: Jabre, Tarek
Advisors: Saba, Nicolas
Subjects: Mountain bikes
Issue Date: 2019
Abstract:
Mountain biking is a general term used to describe several types of bike disciplines each requiring a unique frame design and material to meet the specific performance requirements of the disciplines. The requirements vary with each discipline from maneuverability, shock absorption, aerodynamics, paddling energy efficiency, rigidity, and stability. In this project we will be introducing the 5 types of disciplines but focusing our study on downhill mountain biking. A study will be conducted to find the self-stabilizing velocity of the bicycle, the rolling friction coefficient of the tire and the road, and the damping coefficient and stiffness for spring dampers.
