Abstract:
Remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) are robots which are controlled and driven by human on the surface. Each ROV has a specific objective, so certain ROVs may have additional features than others. These robots are connected by several wires which help the control of the ROV [1]. This report describes the design and construction of an ROV called "Balamand Sea Probe I". This ROV can be further developed and built it in a way to detect oil spills in water or help fishermen find the schools of fish at sea. It can also serve a main purpose which is the exploration of the underwater ground and also it can be used to examine the hull of the ships and help in their maintenance. Balamand Sea Probe I can be equipped with several instruments to serve several purposes in the underwater field. In addition, an arm can be added to the ROV to catch something in the water and several detectors and sensors to measure the depth and water in the ocean. An important feature that can be added is a tube that can extract a sample of water so it can be tested for its salinity and check what kind of species live in it.
