Title: | Analysis of current car bumper systems and development of a new process approach | Authors: | Metni, Paissios Dib, Eddy |

Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | A bumper is a thin walled structure. The bumper acts as a protecting component for passengers, pedestrians and the car itself. This project’s objective is to modify the bumper’s mechanical properties and thickness and finally apply tailoring techniques in order to increase the crashworthiness of the bumper. Thus, a real scaled model is implemented into FEA. The simulation is adopted with parameters and constraints of a full frontal NCAP crash. Nonlinear and linear analysis are also explored. Failure criteria is set to limit maximum stresses and displacement. |
