dc.description.abstract | This study was intended to examine job satisfaction of academics in the Lebanese Sector of higher Education. The purpose of this research was to describe and study the relationship between many demographic variables, believed to affect overall job satisfaction. The sample for this study consisted of academics who reported working on a full-time and parttime basis. Data were collected through a survey consisting of an amended version of the 1977 Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ). Questionnaires were distributed to academics teaching in six different universities and 188 academics completed the questionnaire and were included in the analysis. Results indicated that academics were slightly satisfied with their jobs. Participants in the current sample were less satisfied with their level of pay, their compensation package, the objectivity and clarity of the criteria for promotion. Several recommendations and implications were drawn from the study. Trends in the field relating to male to female ratio, job stress and work-family spillovers as well as many other factors were discussed along with recommendations for future research. | en_US |
