Abstract:
This project aims for a solution to deal with the apple crisis in Lebanon. The report explains how to sort apples according to size and color. The design of the project shows the stages that the apples will go through and what sorting techniques are used. Due to the high price of constructing the machine, an alternative was designed to obtain a prototype and introduce another sorting technique which is, weight sorting technique. The weight sorting technique comes as an alternative to size sorting because both techniques lead to the same result. With the help of this prototype, the concept of weight sorting will be observed as a real time simulation. The prototype will also allow many different ideas and devices to be implemented as an experimental stage. The design discussed at the beginning of the report shows the actual concept of the machine in real time. It also points out how it can be operated such that when the machine is assembled completely, it can be installed in any factory. The prototype contains an important element which is the load cell that will detect the weight of the apple in grams and sort the apple accordingly.
