Title: | An application of automation technology in an office setup using KNX | Authors: | Dib, Zaki | Advisors: | Haddad, Nicolas K. | Subjects: | Buildings--Mechanical equipment--Automatic control--Case studies | Issue Date: | 2016 | Abstract: | KNX is widely used bus communication technology that is currently the trend in home automation systems design. This project designed and partially implemented an office automation system for the Deans office and conference room at the new Engineering Complex at the University of Balamand. Automation functions included security, sound, light, HVAC, blinds, and shutters operation. This project gave an in depth illustration of the different parts that would be used in the system. As a part of the design, a detailed feasibility study was conducted. In addition, it designed the logical framework for system operation. Due to constraints on budget and time only a part of the designed system was implemented. The result was a fully function prototype implemented on a KNX station. |
