Abstract:
This project focuses on enhancing the performance of the internet in rural, remote or areas with rough terrains. Therefore, a modified technology is proposed to solve the problems. WiMAX systems are promising techniques that could enhance the quality of the network in rural areas. An adaptive modulation technique is performed on WiMAX as a modified technique to enhance the performance of the bit error rate and the channel capacity. Focusing on the physical layer of the WiMAX, the modification will hit the modulations (BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM) and the convolution codes (1/2, 2/3, 3/4). Various modulation types will be used, and each one of them will be called with its appropriate code rate on MATLAB. This project examines the benefits and the performance of the enhancement made by this adaptation based on the simulation results of the bit error rate versus Signal to noise ratio, and the channel capacity versus the signal to noise ratio under the AWGN channel.
