Subjects: Phase-locked loops
Issue Date: 2015
Abstract:
Electrical grids are certainly vulnerable to any kind of distortions, which would eventually cause problems to many applications in this field such as the distributed power generation systems and many other industrial fields. Therefore, the need for synchronization between the grid and the utility network is inescapable, thus the phase locked loop which will allow a fast and accurate synchronization with robustness against disturbances and all kinds of power quality issues such as sags, swells and harmonics. This report begins with a brief introduction about "PLL". The report focuses on the PLL work and types. It discusses the applications specially when synchronizing a power source with a grid. Several case studies are developed and analyzed to draw a strategy for a setup of such blocks in electrical circuits.
