Title: | Smart grid implementation and analysis | Other Titles: | Smart grid implementation & analysis | Authors: | Rizkallah, Georges Chedrawi, Nassif Yahchouchi, Roger |
Advisors: | Hassan, Moustapha El | Subjects: | Smart power grid | Issue Date: | 2014 | Abstract: | The report targets "Smart Grid" which is the new concept trending worldwide especially in the USA and Europe. It is a management system that permits the user to be part of consuming and producing energy in a better, CO2 free, manageable, foreseen, organized, and secure manner. Smart Grid is the future due to the usage of new technologies such as renewable energy sources, the combination of wired and wireless system based communication systems, and the monitoring and control centers that are responsible for the well-being of the system and eventually targeting feasibility. What the authors intend to do is introduce Smart Grid, look into the history of its development, and finally illustrate a concise idea about every aspect of Smart Grid covering the distribution level with communication analysis and viewing the economic aspect of this implementation. Thus the reader would have the whole idea from the technical to the commercial point of view of this system having in mind the advantages and disadvantages that Smart Grid produces in Lebanon. This problematic is tackled by using MATLAB/SIMULINK to illustrate a typical design for a distribution level covering different neighborhoods consisting of different loads in a typical Lebanese environment. |
