Abstract:
Indoor positioning Services and applications are getting more and more essential to accurately localize the user, vehicle, or object. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) have gained interest form researches side and application side due to the fact it is cost effective and feasible solution for indoor positioning and estimation. The applications used by WLAN for indoor positioning are many. Therefore, in this project, a WLAN indoor localization system is proposed. to be used in a demining virtual reality training system. The system needs to accurately know the location of the demining device grasped by the demining trainee. The proposed WLAN indoor positioning system is based on OFDM. DM and uses the time difference of arrival (TDOA) in the signal measurement process and the hyperbolic algorithm to localize the target-of-interest. Moreover, The TDOA estimation is achieved using the generalized cross-correlation that shows a better estimation performance than the standard cross correlation. In addition, this project illustrates the practical implementation of the indoor positioning system where the software defined radio (SDR) HackRF one is used and implemented using GNU radio. Nevertheless, this project shows the feasibility of using HackRF one in indoor positioning environment in case an accuracy within few meters is acceptable.
