Supervised by Dr. Mohammad Naja.en_US
The project under study is a twelve story residential building. Located in Ashrafiyeh and built on medium rock, the structure lies in a seismic zone 3. The total height of the building is 36 m, with a typical story height of 3 m. The area of a typical floor is 500 m2 , and the total seismic weight of the building is 42000 tons. Shear walls structural system will be used to resist the effect of earthquake ground motion. A Dynamic analysis based on the Uniform Building Code 1997 (UBC 97) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI 2008) limitations using ETABS version 9.7 will be performed to design the structure to resist the inertial forces and torsional moments caused by a strong devastating earthquake that is most likely to hit the region in the upcoming 50 years.en_US
