dc.description.abstractThis project has several objectives; the first objective is to be able to model a structure with all its elements using two softwares: ETABS and SAFE. The second objective is to define all the buildings parameters such as load (gravity and lateral) and to develop all the load combinations in order to be able to do the design taking into consideration the earthquake characteristics.The last objective is to get results in terms of area of steel for each element according to our design techniques. The design is done according to the ACI-318M-05, UBC97 and ASCE-07. The ACI code is for all concrete members, the UBC97 objective is for building to resist earthquake to the extent that the structure will stay functional after the earthquake and gives time for the occupants to escape. The ASCE-07 gives us an idea on the various loads present in each scenario. All computations and method are shown clearly throughout the report, allowing the reader full understanding of all the design techniques.en_US
