The purpose of this project is to model and design a fourteen story hotel building. The major concern of the project was to develop a seismic resistant structure. The shape of the structure was not a typical shape. It is the main cause that led us to perform dynamic analysis of the structure. This report starts with the structural design criteria, where general assumptions and design details are stated. A brief idea about the static equivalent method is given. Since the shape of the structure is not a usual one, two types of irregularities were found for this structure. Modeling the structure on ETABS was our main challenge. A full dynamic analysis of the structure must be done, and this cannot be executed without computer aid. Setting out the model was one of the major tasks. The architectural drawings needed lots of work to make them ready for structural analysis. This project taught us a lot about the behavior of structures subject to seismic forces. Many problems were faced, and each solution to these problems gave us a wider view and understanding of structural engineering.en_US
