Title: | Structural design of a ten story residential building | Authors: | Jouni, Fadi Yazbek, Ali |
Advisors: | Zerbe, Hikmat | Subjects: | Structural design--Case studies | Issue Date: | 2014 | Abstract: | The aim of this report is to present the calculation and data analysis done to all elements of a 10 floor residential building in the frame work of MS project at the University of Balamand, department of civil engineering during the academic year 2013-2014. The calculation was done for all loads concerning dead, live and seismic, axial loads, moments and shears for the whole structure. In this project, we designed a one way ribbed slab and a one way solid slab, frames, shear walls and foundations. Etabs and Safe were used for the modeling of the project. Beams and columns were selected after iterations and were satisfied in Etabs for resisting the gravity loads. Shear walls were design to resist the earthquake loads. Slabs thicknesses were selected using ACI tables. The mat foundation was used in Safe and designed using ACI318. Load combinations are selected according UBC97. Detailed calculations are presented for all the design sections. Sketching of longitudinal and transversal sections is done for columns, beams, ribs, solid slabs and foundations using AutoCad software. |
