Title: | Seismic design of a twenty-five tower building | Authors: | Rachkidy, Rula Younes, Majd |
Advisors: | Zerbe, Hikmat | Subjects: | Earthquake resistant design--Case studies | Issue Date: | 2017 | Abstract: | The purpose of the project is to design a twenty-eight floor tower including three basements located in Lebanon. The seismic design must allow the building to move during an earthquake without any collapse using ACI-318M-14, UBC97 and ASCE-07 codes. The high-rise tower known as President tower has a height of 121.2 meters and is located in Beirut the capital of Lebanon. After the structural drawings are complete, the tower is modelled using "ETABS" software which analyses the structure behavior under seismic loads. ETABS is also used to perform the dynamic analysis of the building and to design the vertical and horizontal structural elements such as walls, columns and slabs. The vertical elements (walls and columns) are as mentioned before designed using ETABS while slabs and foundations are designed using SAFE. |
