Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to develop a concrete mix that will be used in road repair. Its production will save time, avoid traffic jam, and reduce the workmanship. Two types of cements were used in this project: Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Calcium Sulfoaluminate Cement (CSA). Compressive tests were made on mortar samples. Cement paste was used to get the heat release due to cement hydration (calorimeter test). These tests showed very pleasant results that were improved by adding the proper superplasticizers, and changing the water to cement ratio. The outcome of this research is a product that could be sold as a mortar bag to be used as a quick solution for road repair. This product may be a great benefit to the Lebanese construction and transportation industry especially that most of the Lebanese roads have reached a critical situation.
