Abstract: 
Thin high performance concrete (HPC) panels are sometimes used for cladding in building structures. Compared to stone cladding and polished concrete, HPC panels are much lighter. Codes and specifications for HPC precast panels for cladding are not yet available. This project develops a comprehensive experimental and analytical study which involves casting and testing prototypes of various length and thickness. Mold preparation, casting and testing were performed at the civil engineering laboratory at the University of Balamand for 68 cm by 68 cm square panels 2.5 cm and 1 cm thick. Theoretical analysis was also performed using finite element modeling and results were calibrated against test results. The HPC panels were placed horizontally supported at its four edges and were subjected to vertical concentrated load that simulate wind load in addition to its self-weight. Testing was performed for HPC panels with and without steel fibers. Test data and analysis indicate how efficient HPC panels with steel fibers are based on strength, durability and sustainability as well as cost and speed of construction.
