Nowadays, triclosan is the new disinfectant appearing in most of our daily products. This toxic component has a lot of effects on human health causing skin irritation and allergies. Also triclosan can affect the environment specially the aquatic ecosystem. After studying the physical and chemical properties of triclosan, researchers focused on its degradation process through photocatalysis process using titanium dioxide. Because of the high level of toxicity of triclosan byproducts, several methods have been developed besides photocatalysis to study triclosan degradation such as ozonation, Nano-bio redox process, sonoelectrochemical degradation and Fenton oxidation process. In addition, many plants throughout the world are applying a lot of methods to treat wastewater on a scale-up industrial level not just in laboratories.en_US
