The book consists of three main parts. First, the author deals with methodological and historical-critical information in a long and detailed Introduction (pp. 11-81). The second part contains an exegetical study of the topic in the four canonical Gospels, in Q, and in two apocryphal works known as the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of the Ebionites (pp. 83-188). The third part presents seven case studies that took place mainly in towns and villages of Tanzania and the Palestinian West Bank (pp. 189-288). Conclusions and a bibliography close the book (pp. 289-319).en_US
