Biography
"Dr. Chawki Lahoud earned his Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from Saint Joseph University, Lebanon, in January 2020. His doctoral research was centered on the multi-objective optimization of cogeneration and trigeneration systems, showcasing his dedication to sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, Dr. Lahoud holds a Master's degree in renewable energies, which he earned jointly from Saint Joseph University and the Lebanese University in 2016.
Dr. Lahoud's passion for education is evident in his extensive teaching experience. Since 2016, he has held the role of Lecturer at the University of Balamand, Faculty of Engineering, imparting his knowledge to budding engineers. Simultaneously, he has also served as a Lecturer at Saint Joseph University and the Lebanese university at the faculty of engineering, where he has contributed to the development of engineering students. His commitment extends to supervising final year projects for mechanical engineering students, nurturing their practical skills and innovative thinking.
Dr. Lahoud is not just an educator but a dedicated researcher with a strong focus on renewable energy applications. His numerous publications reflect his expertise in the field, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the renewable energy sector. Furthermore, he actively engages in supervising Ph.D. thesis, thus enriching the academic community with his guidance. His ongoing research endeavors involve the exploration of the dynamics of nanoparticles in dusty plasmas for the first time in Lebanon, a cutting-edge field, in collaboration with the GREMI - University of Orléans in France. This underscores his unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and technology.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Lahoud earned grants for his postdoctoral research. These include grants for his work on phase change materials from Saint Joseph University, which resulted in the publication of several papers. Additionally, he secured a grant from PHC CEDRE, which facilitated a collaborative partnership with the University of Orléans in France. This collaboration also involved supervising a Ph.D. student who, like Dr. Lahoud, earned a grant from France known as SSHN grant.
In 2023, Dr. Lahoud achieved another significant milestone in his career when he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the university of Balamand. In this role, he imparts his knowledge to students through a range of courses, including mechanical design and design tools in mechanical and aeronautical engineering. Moreover, he plays a pivotal role in guiding senior projects, contributing significantly to the education and development of future mechanical engineers. Dr. Chawki Lahoud's multifaceted contributions to academia and research underscore his dedication to advancing knowledge and fostering the next generation of engineers."
