Biography
" Assistant Professor within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Balamand. He
obtained his Bachelor BE degree (2008) in Civil Engineering and
Masters ME degree (2017) in Transportation and Trafc Engineering
from Beirut Arab University. He then received a Ph.D. Degree (2022)
in Transportation and Pavement Engineering from Beirut Arab University, in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela,
Spain.Dr. Barraj is an afliated member of the American Society of
Civil Engineering (ASCE), and a member of the Lebanese Order of
Engineers & Architects since 2014. Research has always been a passion for Dr. Barraj. He is a recipient of a visiting researcher credential
(2021) from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He mainly
studies the properties and performance of flexible and rigid pavements
incorporating waste and recycled materials. He worked also on developing a framework to implement the mechanistic pavement design
guide (MEPDG) method in Lebanon and other data scarce regions.
Dr. Barraj conducted as well research to evaluate the role of public
transportation systems such as light rail transit (LRT) in Lebanon. He
published a list of journal papers in the felds of Transportation, and
Pavement Engineering."
