Biography
Dr. Michel Daaboul is an Associate Professor within the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Balamand. He obtained an Engineer’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction and Energetics from the Lebanese University in 2005. He earned a Master’s Degree in Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics from the University of Poitiers, France, in 2006. He then received a Ph.D. Degree in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Poitiers, France, in 2009. He also worked as a Research Associate at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA, in 2009. He joined the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand as a Lecturer in 2010. He then became an Assistant Professor in 2011. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016.

Dr. Daaboul teaches undergraduate and graduate courses within the Mechanical Engineering Department. His courses target students from all the departments of the Faculty of Engineering. They are focused on thermal sciences, both fundamental and applied topics. They mainly include: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Turbomachinery, and Aerodynamics. Dr. Daaboul has also contributed to the development and improvement of the curriculum of Mechanical Engineering in his position as a member and chair of the Faculty Curriculum Committee.

Research has always been a passion for Dr. Daaboul. He mainly studies the Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) behavior of fluids. He has acquired an advanced level in working with Experimental Fluid Mechanics, specifically with Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). He works on the development of EHD actuators capable of controlling a liquid flow. These actuators may be used in EHD pumps, in aircraft applications, as well as in heat transfer enhancement devices. On another hand, Dr. Daaboul also works on Renewable Energy, mainly on the improvement of the performance of wind turbines and their applications in Lebanon.

In addition to that, Dr. Daaboul regularly attends international symposiums and publishes his works in well-known peer-review journals. He is the author of more than 40 scholar articles and scientific contributions, published in international scientific journals and international conference proceedings. Moreover, he serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals.

Finally, Dr. Daaboul serves as a member of several organizations, societies, and committees at the University of Balamand and elsewhere. He has been a member of the Lebanese Order of Engineers & Architects since 2011. He has also been a member of several international societies like the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Institute of Physics (IOP). Dr. Daaboul is also passionate about general knowledge and has won several trivia competitions on Lebanese televisions.
