Biography
Dr. Issam Tawk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is the projects coordinator of the BS, BE, and MS program.

Dr. Issam Tawk earned his Master of Mechanical Engineering at the Lebanese University in 2003. He then enrolled in a DEA (Diplome dEtudes Approfondies) at SUPAERO (Ecole Supérieure dAéronautique), Toulouse, France. He pursued his PhD at the University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France), in collaboration with SUPAERO and Eurocopter.

In September 2008, Dr. Tawk joined Airbus industry, on the A350XWB program development, in the MLGB team (Main Landing Gear Bay), as a stress engineer. He was there responsible for stress calculation of the central part of the Main Landing Gear Bay. He was managing and guiding the (Risk Sharing Partners) stress calculation team. He was also initiating and monitoring studies and analysis conducted by subcontractors.

In February 2010, Dr. Tawk came back to Lebanon, where he was recruited by the University of Balamand, as full time Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2017.

Since he joined UOB, he developed and contributed in the establishing of a new composites Laboratory, with autoclave curing technology, the first in Lebanon.

In terms of university services, Dr. Tawk took part in different committees such as: University Commencement Committee, Engineering Projects and Thesis Committee. Dr. Tawk also participated in student co-curricular activities: he has been a member of the music band “Soundz good” and participated in two international concerts (Antalya, 2014 and 2015). He is currently the advisor of The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) at UOB.
