Biography
Following the completion of my undergraduate studies in medical laboratory sciences at the University of Balamand (UOB), Lebanon, I worked as a research assistant at the Biology Department, American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon Then, I had the chance to continue my graduate studies at AUB and obtain an MSc degree in biology My MS thesis work focused on developing an in vitro model to study bacterial-epithelial cell interaction Later on, I was granted the opportunity to start my part-time PhD studies at Kingston University, UK while retaining my full-time research assistant position at the Biology Department (UOB) My PhD thesis work was carried out under the supervision of Professors Helmout Modjtahedi and Georges Bahr whereby my thesis focused on analyzing the effects of two heat-killed mycobacterial preparations, currently being used as immunotherapeutic agents, on human innate immune cells Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Biology Department (UOB) whereby I am mainly involved in a research project that aims at evaluating the immunomodulatory effects of heat-killed Mycobacterium obuense on human myeloid dendritic cell subpopulations Moreover, I am also engaged in the teaching and coordination of biology undergraduate and graduate courses as well as in the thesis co-supervision of biology graduate students
