Biography
Dr El-Bikai holds a BSc in Biology from the Saint Joseph University in Beirut, an MSc in Molecular Pharmacology form the University of Montreal, Canada She then continued her PhD in Experimental Medicine and graduated in 2014 from McGill University, Canada ; Her background in clinical research is built on strong foundations from a combination of academic achievement and first-hand experience in the pharmaceutical industry In academia, she worked as a research assistant for the CARTaGENE project (a population based cohort of 20,000 subjects in Quebec, Canada) The data from that cohort formed the basis of her PhD and was awarded the doctoral fellowship from the FRSQ (Fond de Recherche Santé Québec) and her project was funded by the CIHR (Canadian Institute of Health Research) Alongside her academic career she authored and co-authored many high-impact scientific articles; Shortly after her PhD, she worked as a clinical research associate for a Pharmaceutical company and was in charge of managing and monitoring the epidemiological trials that took place in the Gulf countries She then expanded her competencies in medical writing to developed strategic communication planning for medical products launch In addition, she produced a variety of communication materials that are used to bring new and innovative products to the market; She currently focuses her research on hypertension and osteoporosis in the Lebanese population and is an emerging Leader at the International Society of Hypertension Within the scope of her research she participated to the May Measurement Month 2019, which is an international initiative that aimed at raising awareness on the importance of screening for hypertension She teaches and coordinates many cross cutting courses at undergraduate and the graduate level, such as Research and methods (basic and advanced), Epidemiology (basic and advanced) and field epidemiology In addition to supervising Master’s projects and thesis
