Biography
Dr Abbas has a multidisciplinary educational background She holds a PhD degree in Social Sciences and Environmental Studies from the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, University of Twente (Netherlands) Her previous educational background is Master degree in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University (LAU) and Bachelor of Arts degree (in Archaeology) from the American University of Beirut (AUB) This multidisciplinary education was also reflected in her working experience Until 2014, Dr Abbas previous work has included administrative responsibilities; writing project proposals; bringing funds for the centers; networking with NGO’s, international organizations and embassies; providing training to various actors and in different topics mainly personal skills topics; among others In most of her working experience, she has been engaged with community whether in developmental project’s implementation or trainings From March till July 2014, she worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) as Public Health Officer in Tripoli and North Lebanon Starting November 2014, Dr Abbas has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Public Health Department, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Balamand Recently she took a Certificate Degree after joining the Research Ethics Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore She has been involved in different courses mainly: Public Administration and Policy in Lebanon, Skills for a Healthier Life, Environment, Health, and Development, Research in Health Care Sciences, Human Rights in Health, Public Health and Urban Environments, Gender and Development, and Public Health Ethics among others Dr Abbas has been involved in ethics teaching for both undergraduate and graduate levels programs In short, Dr Abbas multidisciplinary background is also reflected in her multidisciplinary research
