Biography
Robert Nini was born on August 15, 1970 in El-Minaa. He received his Lebanese baccalaureate from National Orthodox College, St Elie on 1988. He obtained his “ Diploma in Civil Engineering” from Lebanese University, first branch, Tripoli on 1993. He worked with Alcatel Contracting in Lebanon on the PSTN project as site engineer and with Mr. Naim khoriaty office as design and site engineer on many residential, commercial and academic projects before going to France to prepare his D.E.A. (Diplome d‘études Approfondies) in Soil Mechanics from Ecole Centrale de Paris in 1997.

After it, he worked for Bonna Company-Eternit Group, Lebanon (Branch of Bonna France) as Plant manager for reinforced concrete pipes production before going back to France to prepare his Ph.D. At 2004, he received his Ph.D in Geotechnical engineering from Ecole Centrale de Paris.

From 2004 to 2008 he worked as Part time Lecturer at Lebanese American University LAU, Byblos, as Part time Lecturer at NDU-Barsa and Part time Lecturer at University of Balamand. He was responsible for courses related to soil mechanics, shallow foundations design, soil laboratory and deep foundations design. He became in 2008 a Full time Assistant professor in the Civil and Environmental department at University of Balamand. In 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.

From 2014 to 2016, he served as History Club Advisor at UOB. Besides he is a member in University of Balamand Project Committee EPTC from 2008 till now. He was selected as University of Balamand committee member for “The Preliminary Assessment and Proposed Sustainable Solutions for Chekka-Batroun Retaining Structure Failure”.

Dr Nini has participated almost each year from 2011 in an international conference related to Geotechnical Engineering and Transportation Geotechnics in the United States and in Europe.

He also published many articles in peer reviewed International Journals such as International Journal of Geotechnical Engineering and others. He published a book during 2011 “Cartographie de la susceptibilité aux glissements de terrain au Liban”. ISBN-13: 978-6131538414, ISBN-10: 6131538417. He was also selected as Scientific Committee Member of the International 15th Arab Structural Engineering Conference ASEC which will be held in October 2020.

Dr Nini is giving many consultancies regarding real cases of soil mechanics problems such as Daher El Baidar sliding road, Es-Sfireh earth flow and Aqoura landslide. At the same time he is the consultant for the Soil & Materials laboratory related to the Order of Engineers & architects-Tripoli from 2000.

He is a member in The Order of Engineers & Architects-Tripoli from 1994 and a member of the Geotechnical committee in the Order of Engineers & Architects-Tripoli.
